People arrive at a face search because something has already gone wrong: a photo reused on a fake profile, a romance scam that has reached the money stage, a sextortion threat, images shared without consent. A search can show the spread of the problem; it cannot deal with the harm. This directory lists who can, by country, for the five situations that come up most. The NCII removal directory and the impersonation directory give the reporting routes that go with them.
- US United States
- UK United Kingdom
- IN India 1930 covers fraud and image abuse
- CA Canada
- AU Australia
- IE Ireland
- DE Germany
- FR France
- Crisis line listed
- Crisis plus fraud reporting
- Crisis, fraud and image-abuse support
How to use this table
- Pick the row by situation first, country second. The worldwide hashing services (StopNCII, Take It Down) apply everywhere and work alongside a national report.
- Fraud lines want the money trail: dates, amounts, account details, the profile used. Image-abuse lines want URLs and screenshots. Keep both ready.
- Support lines are confidential and do not require a police report. Reporting portals create a case number that platforms and banks will ask for.
What this directory does not cover
- Legal advice. Several of the listed services refer to lawyers or legal aid; none gives advice on a specific case.
- Countries not listed. The NCII directory adds Japan and Brazil for image removal; other countries will be added as entries are verified.
- Platform-side reporting, which is in the impersonation directory.
Questions
Which line for a romance scam that has cost money?
The fraud reporting route for your country: ReportFraud and IC3 in the US, Action Fraud in the UK, 1930 and cybercrime.gov.in in India, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, ReportCyber and Scamwatch in Australia. Contact your bank the same day; early reports are the ones that recover money.
Is calling a helpline the same as reporting to the police?
No. Helplines support you and may help with removal; they do not open a criminal case. The reporting portals in the table do. Many people use both.
Does India's 1930 cover fake profiles and image abuse?
Yes. The National Cybercrime Reporting Portal takes complaints about fake profiles, morphed images, sextortion and financial fraud, and 1930 is the phone route for financial fraud in progress.
